Hello Friends, We are relocating to Franklin, TN in a week. We are expecting a baby in mid-Aug and so immediately need to make an online appointment with an Obstetrician and a Hospital. My wife is also having gestational diabetes and so it is very URGENT to make an appointment as soon as possible. I searched online and found Baptist and Saint Thomas Hospitals in Nashville that looks good but it would be around 18-20 miles from Franklin. Could anyone of you please suggest a good hospital and an Obstetrician near Franklin, TN? Your help and support could bail me out of this situation. So, please provide your valuable inputs. Thanks in advance! -- Rahul Email: maverick.rahul2006@gmail.com Cell: 804-937-3724

Poonam, We are going to Tennessee Women's Care in Nashville and seeing Dr. John Macey. We are planning to have delivery in Baptist Hospital. When is your due date? All the Best!!!

Hi Tripura, I reached out to Dr. Nicole but unfortunately she would be on leave at the time of my wife's delivery date. Could you please recommend somebody else? Any of your friends or colleagues who may have gone to some other doctor? Thanks, Rahul

Rahul, Gestational Diabetes is pretty common these days and should not be a factor to worry about. Also, it won't bother much with travelling, that too to see a doctor only once a week for a preggo in advanced stage (as much as I know). And yes, you can use freeways to get to the hospital in about 25 or 30 mins max. You can always go for a second opinion or other ob\gyn in case you experience severe traffic flow or something like that. You may also request the doctor for a good referral too, in your area.

Thanks much Tripura for your reply and advise. The reviews for Dr. Nicole are really good as you said. Is it wise to stay in Franklin and travel to Nashville, may be twice a week as my wife has diabetes too? Even I want to go to best hospital and doctor. Do you know if freeways are busy all day long? I was thinking to use freeways so that I can travel the distance in 20-25 mins. Is it advisable?

Congratulations on would-be-parent. I am not sure of any Ob/Gyn in Franklin area, but as you mentioned, Baptist is a very good hospital for women's health. We had a baby last August in Baptist and I would rate it as the BEST hospital for deliveries. My gynecologist was Dr. Nicole Schlechter, who is top rated, and to me she is the BEST, you won't really regret the distance once you see her. I know I haven't provided what you need but Baptist is very popular for child births in Nashville :-)
